Doha: The Doha International Family Institute (DIFI), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, will host today the first annual Family Policy Forum under the theme ‘Rethinking the Work-Family Reconciliation Policies in the GCC’.
Organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs, and the Executive Bureau of the GCC Council of Ministers for Social Affairs, the two-day forum aims to enhance the knowledge base of Arab Family matters, make family issues a priority for policymakers and encourage knowledge exchange on family matters through interdisciplinary networks which include researchers, policymakers, civil society organisations and service providers, Qatar News Agency reports.
The forum will stress rethinking of work-family reconciliation policies in the GCC within the local economic, social, cultural and demographic contexts, and will focus on national realities, contextual factors within the GCC countries and possible alternatives that could be appropriate for Gulf societies.
