The Doha Players staged the Doha premiere of “Hot Mikado” yesterday at Awsaj Academy Auditorium.
Featuring comic characters, toe tapping music, witty dialogues and vibrantly coloured sets and costumes, this show guarantees a fun night at the theatre.
The East meets the West head-on in this hilarious 1940’s style update of the Gilbert and Sullivan classic, originally run in West End in 1995.
With the music transformed into jazz, blues, swing and scorching torch songs and ‘Three Little Maids’ turned into an Andrew Sisters’ show-stopper, this zoot-suited, tap-dancing colourful show is certain to provide the ideal evening out for the whole family.
Hot Mikado is essentially a musical comedy with a silly and convoluted storyline that allows for light-hearted fun.
Doha Players brings a multinational cast of performers to the stage to create a night of fun and laughter. The audience joins the heir of Titipu, a reluctant executioner, and a woman loved by two men in an all-singing, all-dancing colourful show. The show runs until Saturday, starting each evening at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from The One stores at Landmark and Villaggio malls.
