MoCI Undersecretary participates in Tashkent investment forum

Doha: The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) H E Sultan bin Rashid Al Khater participated in the second edition of Tashkent International Investment Forum held from April 27-28 in the city of Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The forum also witnessed the participation of senior officials from Qatar Investment Authority, Qatar Financial Centre, Investment Promotion Agency and senior Uzbek figures from the public and private sector. 

On the margins of the forum, a bilateral meeting was held between H E Dr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and  H E Sultan bin Rashid Al Khater, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and later with H E Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The meetings discussed issues of common interests, to strengthen bilateral ties in the fields of trade, investment and industry, in addition to exchanging views about the Forum’s topics.  H E the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry showcased the successful economic policies adopted by the State of Qatar to support the private sector, illustrating the incentives, regulations and promising opportunities available in the country which serve to encourage investors and  It’s to be noted that the Tashkent International Investment Forum serves to showcase the investment potential of the Republic of Uzbekistan to foreign investors, and hence attract investors and major financial and economic institutions to the country.

The 2nd edition of the forum witnessed the organization of several sessions and roundtables which concentrated on various subjects like environmental and social practices, corporate governance, the role of women in developing small and medium sized enterprises, the private sector role in developing infrastructure projects, tourism, retail industry –opportunities, challenges and E-trade- and the prospects in the field of digitizing small and medium sized enterprises, in addition to some other topics.
