ISQEM is a UK registered non-profit making organisation contributing to the enhancement of safety quality and environmental management on a global scale. The association is fully international with over 30,000 members from the UK, USA, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, who have come together to ensure that the three key areas of management represented by safety, quality and environment are being raised and improved worldwide.
Following its establishment in 2011, Qatar Rail is leading one of the largest rail projects in the world to meet the demands of Qatar’s dynamic and growing population. The company is responsible for the design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the entire rail network and systems, and will manage Qatar’s rail network once operating.
The state-of-the-art railway network will consist of Doha Metro, a rapid transit system connecting communities within Doha and its suburbs, Lusail Light Rail Transit (LLRT), a tram service for convenient travel within the new city of Lusail and the Long Distance Passenger and Freight Network, better linking Qatar to the region. The first phase of the Doha Metro project is expected to be complete in 2019/2020, while completion of the Lusail Tram is set for 2020.
By 2030, all the three networks – Doha Metro, Lusail Tram and the long-distance rail, which will link Qatar with the GCC Rail network – are expected to be complete. With the completion of the first phase of the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram, Qatar Rail expects to offer 600,000 passenger trips per day by 2021.
By then, 37 metro stations are expected to be complete, with an average journey time of three minutes between adjacent stations.
