QTA organizes training course on 'Sustainability of Business Events'

Doha: Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has organized a training course for its partners in the private sector about the sustainability of business events within the framework of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the State's ability to attract and host exhibitions, conferences and international meetings, and in order to explore the latest trends and keep abreast of best practices in this area.
The training course was held under the theme of "Sustainability in the Events Industry: Causes, Essence and Means" in the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) with the participation of more than 50 key member from the business events sector in Qatar.
Acting Director of Exhibitions at QTA, Ahmed Al Obaidly, said in the opening speech of the training course that the political leadership considers the tourism sector as a priority in the context of its efforts to diversify the national economy and develop various sectors, stressing keenness to ensure the implementation of the development process while taking into account sustainability criteria.

 

The aim of these training courses is to give our partners in the private sector the tools needed to create a sustainable business events industry within a sustainable economy, he explained.
There is a state of constant activity in the world-class utilities owned by Qatar, including the DECC, which host events from various sectors including real estate sector such as the 7th edition of Cityscape Qatar and Project Qatar and global health care and research such as the World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH), Al Obaidly said, stressing importance that growth of the business events sector in Qatar shall be consistent and sustainable.
The State of Qatar has witnessed a significant increase in conferences and business exhibitions, and it is scheduled to host more than 80 conference and exhibition during 2016. Qatar National Strategy for the tourism sector seeks to increase the number of visitors to Qatar by 20 percent over the next five years through a focus on business events sector as a priority.
