Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Labour has announced a set of guidelines to help identify and combat human trafficking offences.

In a social media update, the Ministry said: "Recognising the indicators of human trafficking is fundamental to preventing these heinous crimes before they occur."

"It is imperative to protect human dignity and shield vulnerable individuals from exploitation and unlawful gain," the Ministry added.

In line with this, citizens and residents were advised to call the hotline 16044 to report suspected human trafficking cases.

Some signs that may indicate human trafficking include:
1. Confiscation or withholding of passports or personal identification documents.
2. Coercion or imposition of forced labour.
3. Restriction of communication with others.
4. Persistent threats or intimidation causing fear.
5. Inhumane working or living conditions.

Meanwhile, some reportable matters related to human trafficking include:
1. Forced exploitation in the workplace.
2. Recruitment through fraudulent job offers.
3. Withholding of documents or restrictions on freedom of movement.
4. Any practices infringing upon the rights or dignity of workers.

"Your cooperation empowers the relevant authorities to protect vitims and effectively combat human trafficking offences," the Ministry said.
