Doha: Heavy vehicles will not be allowed to use February 22 Street on Friday (April 1). This restriction by traffic department will be effective from 5am till 10pm.
The move is to remove traffic congestion on the road due to diversions for project works.
The banned list includes heavy vehicles with load capacity of more than 3 tonnes. This includes trucks, equipment and heavy machinery, transport buses, which are above 3 tonnes including buses transporting workers, tankers of all types and garbage trucks.
The decision excludes school buses, pickups, public transportation buses (Karwa), police cars, ambulance and civil defense.
“People caught violating the rule will be fined. Heavy vehicles which fall into the list can use alternative routes, where enough signboards will be placed for the convenience of the drivers,” Traffic Department source told Al Sharq newspaper.
