Doha: The National Diabetes Centre at Hamad General Hospital (HGH), in collaboration with Qatar University’s (QU) Public Health Department, organised a workshop for health educators. Thirty educators from Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) hospitals and diabetes educators from the Primary Health Care Corporation and Qatar Diabetes Association participated. Organised under the theme ‘Behaviour Change — Theories and Application in the Health Education of Diabetics’, the workshop aimed to strengthen health educators’ academic knowledge.
It featured presentations on latest theories and models on behavioural interventions to support diabetics.
Manal Musallam, Director, Diabetes Education at the centre, said the workshop was a follow-up on the First Qatar International Endocrinology Conference and reiterated the importance of the partnership between HMC and QU.
Dr Ghadeer Al Jayousi, Public Health Professor from QU’s Faculty of Sciences, introduced participants to theories being used to change diabetics’ behaviours in Kuwait.
