9-hour temporary closure on part of Al Shamal road

Doha: The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announces that it will implement a nine-hour temporary closure on three of the four northbound lanes of Al Shamal Road, starting approximately 1 km after Exit 35 at Al Khor intersection, as shown in the attached map and in coordination with the Traffic Department. The closure is 1.3 km in length and will be in place from 1:00 AM on Friday 1 April 2016 to 10:00 AM of the same day.
During this period, traffic will be diverted to the fourth lane of the road which will remain open.
The speed limit will be reduced from 120 kph to 50 kph to ensure the safety of road users and the project’s workforce and Ashghal will install road signs to advice motorists of the diversion. The authority requests all road users to abide by the speed limits, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
The diversion is required to allow for the construction of the bridge at the intersection between Al Shamal Road and the New Orbital Highway, as part of the New Orbital Highway and Truck Route Project, contract four.
