DPS-MIS students win accolades in speech competition

Doha: DPS-Modern Indian School students won accolades in Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial Inspirational Speech Competition-2020, organised by Qatar Tamizhar Sangam (QTS) under the aegis of Indian Cultural Centre, Qatar. 

The Tamil speech  competition conducted in three categories - Sub- Junior Category (Classes III – V), Junior Category (Classes VI – VIII) and Senior Category (Classes IX – XII) was open for the students of all Indian schools in Qatar.

A total of 13 students participated in the competition. After the preliminary round, six students qualified for the finals. Varnikha Alagappan (III H) and Sejavarthana Anbalagan (X D) bagged the second prize in Sub-Junior Category and Senior Category respectively. In Junior Category, Aruna Magathi Sankara Narayanan (VI B) won the third prize and Dharsini Nakulan ( VIII A) was presented with the consolation prize.

The  winners received  their trophies and certificates in an award ceremony conducted recently by QTS. The competition was conducted online through Zoom platform and was live-streamed on Facebook.

The students were trained by the teachers of Tamil Department headed by Elavarkuzhali. Certificates were given by QTS to all the students who participated in the competition and all the participating schools received mementos as a mark of recognition.
