Doha: Qatar Development Bank’s (QDB) preparatory meeting held here for The Big 5 International Building and Construction Show attracted 33 Qatari companies.

QDB’s export arm ‘Tasdeer’ hosted the meeting, the bank said Monday in a media statement here. The Big 5 expo will be held at Dubai World Trade Centre from November 25 to 28.

For the second consecutive year, Tasdeer will host a 360 square metres Qatar Pavilion showcasing products of the 33 participating companies from Qatar. Representatives from the 33 companies, most of whom took part last year, as well as senior officials from QDB attended the meeting.

The objective of the meeting was to brief the participants on the steps being taken to make a strong impact of Qatari companies at the international event. QCD officials briefed representatives from Qatari companies on the importance of preparing thoroughly for the Show to maximise business opportunities by networking with key representatives from global importers.

QDB CEO Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al Khalifa said: “In our endeavour to support Qatari companies reach global markets, we are working on to highlight their capabilities and are encouraging them to participate in global events. In this way, we are helping them build strong global partnerships and introduce Qatari companies.”

“Based on the last year’s successful event, we are proud to organise the Qatari companies’ participation. The aim is to develop export opportunities and open new horizons for these companies, which are part of our main pillars at QDB, and thus enhance the role of the private sector in exports,” Al Khalifa said.
