QAFCO Open tennis championship kicks off

Mesaieed: Around 350 players are vying for top honours at the 24th QAFCO Open tennis championship which got under way at the Al-Banush Tennis Courts and at the Khalifa International Tennis Stadium on Monday. 
The championship will continue till November 15 and  will involve more than 400 matches played across 19 categories.
The Championship, the oldest of its kind in Qatar, started in 1987 and has grown into a long established tradition in QAFCO. 
Over the period of time, it has continued all along with renewed momentum evolving into a prestigious annual gathering of the Qatar’s tennis community. 
The championship which has built a reputation for excellent organization features keenly contested matches and enjoys broad popularity all over Qatar.
The Championship  entry which is open to all residents of Qatar is contested in 19 categories for boys and girls from Under-9 years to Men’s Veteran 45 years and above.
The Championship is contested in the following categories:
Boys’ Singles Under-10, Boys’ Singles Under-12,  Boys’ Singles Under-14, Boys’ Singles Under-18, Boys’ Doubles, Girls’ Singles Under-10, Girls’ Singles under-12, Girls’ Singles under-14 years, Ladies Singles, Ladies’ Doubles, Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles,   Men’s Veterans Singles, Men’s Veterans Doubles and Mixed Doubles. The peninsula
