DOHA: The State Cabinet has approved a draft decree on common customs tariff in a session chaired by Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani at the Emiri Diwan yesterday. The Cabinet also approved a draft decision by the Prime Minister amending some provisions of decision No. (12) of 2013 on the formation of an e-Government Steering Committee.
The committee, spearheaded by Ministry of Transport and Communications under the chairmanship of the Minister of Transport and Communications and membership of representatives from concerned authorities, shall follow up implementation of the e-government strategy and achieve coordination and communication between the Ministry of Transport and Communications and other ministries and government agencies to ensure the plans and programmes of these parties are aligned with the overall strategy for electronic government.
The amendment included addition of representatives from Ministry of Justice, Public Prosecution and the Supreme Judicial Council to the membership of committee. The committee will have to submit a report to the Cabinet every six months including results of its operations and its proposals and recommendations for development of e-government programmes.
The Cabinet also approved a draft decision by Minister of Interior regulating granting of military and specialised titles for officers.
Under the terms of the draft decision, the military title shall be added to officers holding specialised professional certificates recognised by the Ministry of Interior. The specialised title shall be added to officers holding a university degree and equivalent, following equation and certification by the competent scientific authority, and after the approval of the competent authority.
