Doha, Qatar: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has urged motorists to exercise caution and follow traffic safety rules when driving in the vicinity of schools, particularly during student drop-off and pick-up times.
In a social media post, Ashghal advised drivers to stop and refrain from overtaking school buses while students are boarding or alighting, as this allows children to enter and exit buses safely.
Motorists were also advised to avoid blocking pedestrian crossings and walkways while picking up or dropping off children, and to ensure that children cross roads only at designated pedestrian crossings.
The authority further called on drivers to park only in designated areas and comply with traffic signals and the 30km/h speed limit in school zones.
