Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that it will implement a traffic diversion on part of the northbound lanes of Mesaieed Road.
The diversion will start tomorrow and lasts six months, in coordination with the Traffic Police Department.
During this period, traffic on the closed section of Mesaieed Road travelling towards Al Wakrah, will be diverted to a parallel two lane, 6.1 kilometre long temporary carriageway, before re-joining Mesaieed Road as shown in the map.
The diversion is required to facilitate the construction of the new ten lane (five lanes in each direction) Al Wakrah Bypass and eight-lane highway (four lanes in each direction) for The New Orbital Highway Project.
Ashghal will install road signs advising motorists of the diversion.
The authority requests all road users to abide by the speed limits which will be 80kmph for the first 4.5km stretch, followed by 50kmph along the remaining 1.6km, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
