Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced the opening of dual carriageway in Arab League Street, eastern and western, between Jerian Njaima and Lebaib Junctions for the public; the two intersections that have been turned from roundabouts to junctions with traffic signals.
The opened section is the main part of the Roads Surrounding Duhail ISF Camp improvement project in Zone 30, which comprises improvement of the surrounding roads through three directions; (north, east, and south). In addition to construction and improvement of five junctions, service roads, parking areas, Storm Water Drainage System, Micro-tunnelling works, pavement construction, provision of infrastructure for electricity and telecommunication facilities, and implementation of intelligent transportation Systems (ITS).
Improvement of the roads surrounding Duhail camp project aims to widen road to accommodate traffic volume, develop the surface water drainage system to the maximum water flow, establishing foul Sewage System with Micro tunnelling Work for future developments, in addition to provide Water Services and New Foul sewer House Connections.
Currently works on pavement is running including the tie-in with Al Khafji Street in Arab League St. (between Jerian Njaima roundabout and Jelaya’a Junction), in addition to drilling and pipe jacking ongoing in Duhail North, while the excavation for the shafts is taking place in Duhail South. The cost of the project value exceeded QR187m, and it is expected to be completed in the roads surrounding ISF camp within Q1 of 2017.
