DOHA: Kyle Whitehill (pictured), the newly-appointed CEO of Vodafone Qatar, has taken up his role.

Commenting on his appointment, Vodafone Qatar’s Chairman Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani Al Thani said: “The entire board of Vodafone Qatar would like to welcome Kyle and look forward to working with him to take Vodafone Qatar to new strengths. I am sure that Kyle’s long telecommunications experience, especially his deep experience in Enterprise and Fixed Line Services, will ensure the continued success of Vodafone in Qatar.”

An experienced CEO with more than 30 years’ experience, Kyle joins Vodafone Qatar from Vodafone Ghana where he was Chief Executive Officer. Under his leadership, Vodafone Ghana became the second largest telecom operator in Ghana and grew its subscriber base from 2 million to over 5 million.

Kyle has worked for Vodafone Group since 2001 and has held a variety of senior roles including Enterprise Business Unit Director in the UK and Chief Operating Officer in India.

“I am delighted to be in Qatar and am thoroughly looking forward to my new life here along with my family. I truly admire Qatar’s 2030 National Vision and Vodafone Qatar is committed to providing world class telecommunications infrastructure to support this forward looking vision,” said Kyle.

“During Vodafone’s short time in Qatar, the competition we have brought has undoubtedly led to better value products and improved services for customers. In the next phase, our relentless pursuit of network excellence continues, as we plan further capacity and coverage improvements and the roll out of 4G services. Additionally, we will promote our capabilities as a business services provider giving businesses in Qatar an alternative. Ultimately, we want to deliver great returns to Qataris who own more than 70 percent of the company, building a sense of pride in having invested in Vodafone Qatar,” he added.
