Doha: Pakistan International School (PIS) recently organised Spelling Bee Contest 2019 for the primary wing at its premises. Students from Grades 1 to 4 participated in the competition, showing outstanding performance.
The competition was organised under the supervision of Principal, Nargis Raza Otho, with a purpose to assess and strengthen the cognitive development of the students.
The programme started with the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Quran, followed by 1st round of the contest. The event was divided into two parts. In the first part, two teams from Grade 1 and 2 comprising of six participants each were called on stage. The participants of each team competed against each other.
Three rounds were played, and in each round, spelling of four words were asked from each student. At the end of round 3, ‘Win the Bee’ round was played to break the tie among students. Overall, from Grade 1, Amama bagged first position; Abdul Wajid and Zainab stood 2nd; and Qazi Saad secured 3rd position. Four students, Inshara Imama, Manha Fatima, Abdul Rahim and Azlan Nadeem grabbed first position from Grade 2.
