Doha: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs will open eight new mosques in different parts of Doha in the near future. This was announced today.
The new mosques can accommodate more than 6 thousand men and women.
The Ministry said in a statement that the new mosques are located in Leabaib, Al Hetmi Old, Al Nasr, Msheireb, Al Sakhama, New Al Ghanim and Umm Ghuwailina. All the new mosques will have chapels for women and houses for Imams.
"The Mosques Department of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs takes into account the requirements of green buildings and sustainable buildings, rationalizing the use of electricity and water, and the preservation of heritage aesthetics in the mosques designs, reflecting the authenticity of the Qatari and Islamic heritage according to the highest standards, the staement further said.
