NEW YORK:  A wild pitch from reliever Nick Maronde allowed Jacoby Ellsbury to score the tiebreaking run in the eighth inning, and the New York Yankees came back from two one-run deficits to defeat the Los Angeles Angels 3-2.
Mark Teixeira hit a home run in the seventh to tie the game 2-2 and New York (15-10) won the final two games of the three-game series with the Angels (11-13).
New York right-hander Masahiro Tanaka gave up two runs on five hits and four walks in 6 1/3 innings of a no-decision. He struck out 11, giving him 46 strikeouts over 35 2/3 innings in five starts.
Braves 1, Reds 0 (10 innings)
Freddie Freeman delivered a walk-off hit with two outs in the 10th inning as Atlanta prevailed in a pitcher’s duel between Braves starter Julio Teheran and Johnny Cueto. Both pitchers allowed just three hits and eight scoreless innings while Cueto struck out 11.
The Braves, however, rallied against Cincinnati’s bullpen for their fourth successive win.
White Sox 9, Rays 2
Rookie Jose Abreu hit his major league-leading 10th home run and helped make right-hander Scott Carroll a winner in his big league debut as the Chicago White Sox beat the Tampa Bay Rays.
The 29-year-old Carroll, called up late on Saturday from Triple-A by the White Sox, worked 7-1/3 innings and allowed one earned run.
Mariners 6, Rangers 5
Seattle Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager hit two home runs  almost single-handedly spoiled the return of Texas starter Matt Harrison.
Seager hit home runs in the seventh and eighth innings to take his tally to five in four games and helped the Mariners rally back from an early 5-0 deficit.
Harrison was playing in his first game since back surgery a year ago and was looking for his first Major League win since September 2012.
Rockies 6, Dodgers 1
Josh Rutledge hit a three-run homer and the Colorado Rockies rolled to a victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Rockies (14-12) took two of three in the series with the Dodgers (14-12) and pulled into a second-place tie again in the National League West.
Giants 4, Indians 1
Brandon Hicks’ two-out, three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Giants a victory over the Cleveland Indians.
Giants right-hander Sergio Romo (2-0) pitched a scoreless top of the ninth to earn the win.
Cubs 4, Brewers 0
Jason Hammel threw five innings without conceding a hit while shortstop Starlin Castro hit two home runs as the Cubs avoided a sweep with a win over the Brewers. Hammel (4-1) eventually gave up three hits and two walks while striking out a season-high seven batters.
Astros 5, Athletics 1
Collin McHugh delivered a second consecutive strong start as the Houston Astros beat the Oakland Athletics.
McHugh (2-0), recalled last week to fill the void left when Scott Feldman went on the 15-day disabled list, allowed just one run and two hits in 8-2/3 innings.
Cardinals 7, Pirates 0
Jhonny Peralta belted two home runs, one a three-run blast in the sixth inning, as the Cardinals beat Pittsburgh. REUTERS
