Riyadh: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi and Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Anand discussed Iranian attacks on GCC states and their impact on regional and international security in a meeting on Sunday.
During the meeting, Albudaiwi reaffirmed the GCC's strong condemnation of the attacks, describing them as a violation of the sovereignty of member states and a blatant breach of international laws and norms.
He stressed the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities and called on Iran to comply with UN Security Council Resolution 2817.
For her part, the Canadian Foreign Minister expressed her country's full support for GCC states in confronting the attacks, underscoring the need to halt them and to ensure the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to safeguard regional and global supply chains.
The two sides also discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation between the GCC and Canada through the existing joint action plan, as well as proposals aimed at strengthening trade and investment ties.
