The first meeting of the media and awareness team of National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC) was held at Public Works Authority (Ashghal) Tower to discuss plan related to enhancing traffic safety.
The meeting was attended by General Secretary of the National Committee for Traffic Safety Brigadier Mohamed Al Malki and Brigadier Mohammed Marafi, Director, Traffic Safety and Engineering Department in addition to number of representative from authorities concerned.
Al Malki gave a brief about new team and its importance, mentioning that the first phase of the strategy had completed 70 plans which aimed at reducing traffic accidents and deaths. “The meetings which recently held by the  committee resulted of establishing a number of teams like traffic accidents team and traffic investigation and traffic jam team,” Al Malki added.
He also mentioned that they have hosted a number experts from Sweden because it was among the best countries in field of awareness and traffic engineering.
The attendees have stressed upon the importance of using social media in the raising awareness because ‘it is very close to people especially youth’.
