Mumbai: Pune Warriors India has named Sri Lankan all-rounder Angelo Mathews as their captain for the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Mathews, who has been part of the Pune Warriors outfit for the past two years, is also the captain of the Sri Lanka national team for One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Tests.

Pune Warriors also announced the coaching staff for the team with Allan Donald named the head coach. Rob Walters joins the team as a fitness trainer and the fielding coach. Praveen Amre will continue to be the assistant coach.

Meanwhile, the one-off match tomorrow will also herald the start of a new era for Sri Lanka in the format. Sri Lanka will be led by wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Chandimal for the first time in the format with fast bowler Lasith Malinga being his deputy.

Chandimal will miss the services of experienced former captains Mahela Jayawardena, Kumar Sangakkara and Tillakaratne Dilshan.
