Qatari artist Jameela Al Ansari highlights the atrocities of war and the urgent call for peace in the region in her solo exhibition which opened on Tuesday at the Cultural Village-Katara.
‘Salam’ exhibition which captures haunting images of war through paintings and installations was inaugurated by Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti with a number of diplomats and renowned artists in attendance.
The exhibition is in line with Katara’s strategy for promoting cultural innovation and connecting people through the channels of peace.
The display of 25 paintings, which revolves around the theme of peace, are unique as they use mixed media to highlight the atrocities occurring in the region.
“The fine paintings created by Qatari artist Jameela Al Ansari employ a highly technical style to convey the necessity of peace in the region. The display comes at a time when Katara has been deeply involved in supporting the humanitarian campaign for Aleppo,” said Al Sulaiti.
Elaborating on the theme, Al Ansari, who is a graduate of Qatar University, said, “The paintings are expressions of the relentless call for peace, dignity and freedom from the ruthless injustice and persecution currently prevalent in the region.”
