Inspectors from the Ministry of Environment have caught a tanker disposing wastewater near shrubs in the desert in Al Mazrua area. The driver of the vehicle has been referred to Public Prosecution for legal action, the Ministry said on its official twitter account and posted this photograph.

DOHA: The Ministry of Environment has urged all citizens and residents to preserve the Qatari environment, both land and sea, during the rainy season and not venture into green areas in the desert and meadows in a vehicle so as to ensure that shrubs, plants and trees are not damaged.
The Ministry has called on people going into the desert and meadows all over the country not to enter those areas with vehicles or motorcycles and to strictly stick to roads only, and avoid crushing plants and shrubs so as not to cause damage to environment and the soil. Crushing the shrubs, plants and trees will threaten wildlife and distort the beauty of Nature, reports Qatar News Agency (QNA).
Public access to these sensitive areas during rainfall causes damage to the growth cycle of the plants, shrubs and trees, and leads to levelling of the soil and thus its destruction and desertification and the elimination of rare species of plants and trees from the Qatari environment.
The Ministry has also called on the owners of manors to stop grazing their cattle during this season, warning that grazing eliminates those plants and shrubs.
The Ministry said it congratulates the citizens and residents for the onset of the rain and said its goodness and blessing should be celebrated, and stressed the urgent need to cooperate with the Ministry in order to protect the environment of the wild during the rainy season.
