
Baku: The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO) has honoured the State of Qatar of its remarkable efforts and outstanding contributions to the development of educational, scientific and cultural fields as well as its support for the activities of the organisation and the efforts and cooperation carried out by the Qatari National Committee for Education, Culture and Science.
Qatar has been honoured during the first plenary meeting of the second session of the General Conference of ISESCO, which was scheduled to conclude yesterday in the city of Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan.
The session witnessed the honouring of H E Dr Mohammed Abdul Wahed Ali Al Hammadi, Minister of Education and Higher Education, the Secretary General of the Supreme Education Council, and President of the Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science by the Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation Dr Abdulaziz Altwaijri. He was presented with the “ISESCO” Golden Decoration of first degree.
Qatar is participating in the Conference with a delegation headed by the Minister of Education and membership of a number of officials from the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, the Supreme Education Council (SEC) , the University of Qatar, and Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science.
The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev had attended the opening session yesterday and gave a speech.
Dr Abdulaziz Altwaijri was reelected as Director General of the organisation for another two terms.
Dr Dr Mohammed bin Abdul Wahid had delivered Qatar’s speech in which he stressed the international commitment through contributions to the political, educational and cultural initiatives, and support the “ISESCO” efforts in spreading the Arabic language and Islamic culture in Islamic non-Arabic-speaking countries, as well as humanitarian and development assistance, which Qatar is continuously keen to provide.
