QSL giants look to extend domination

DOHA: Qatar Stars League (QSL) giants Lekhwiya and El Jaish will be looking to dominate proceedings when they meet Al Arabi and Umm Salal respectively in their QSL fifth round clashes today.
Having placed second and third respectively in the QSL standings this season, Lekhwiya and El Jaish clearly have the edge over their opponents in today’s games.
Al Arabi, who have had mixed fortunes so far in the new season, will meet Lekhwiya at the Lekhwiya Stadium.
Lekhwiya have ten points from four games. The Cops are one of the title favourites this year.
Djamel Belmadi, the head coach of Lekhwiya had this to say about his opponents, “Al Arabi started this season with great ambition and they have great players.”
“If you saw their game against El Jaish and Al Ahli you could say that they could have at least two more points because they could have drawn those games.”
Al Arabi have earned six points from four games and currently sit seventh in the table. They will look to get some points off Lekhwiya as they bid to make it into the top four.
Gerardo Pelusso, head coach of Al Arabi said, “All matches are important and we admit we didn’t give a good game against Al Ahli.”
“We are prepared for a good performance against Lekhwiya and to get the three points,” he added.
Later, at the same venue, El Jaish will be looking for a boost against Umm Salal.
Sabri Lamouchi, The head coach of El Jaish believes that Umm Salal always gives his side a challenge, “We are ready to play tomorrow against Umm Salal. Every team is a different game but every time Umm Salal is always tough.”
Umm Salal has shown resilient performances over the course of the season. They are undefeated and are currently ranked sixth in the table with six points from four games.
Umm Salal coach Bulent Uygun said; “we are playing against a strong team who are one of the favourites for the title. Sagbo, Anderson and Geddo are injured. I believe this will be a good game for football lovers.”
