Qatar Armed Forces have partnered with Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) for their recreational summer camp, launched on August 18 and set to conclude on September 5.
Over 300 local children between the ages of 7 and 17 are being given the opportunity to take advantage of some of the world class facilities available at Aspire Zone. They will enjoy a range of sporting and non-sporting activities including athletics, swimming, volleyball, gymnastics, football, basketball, handball, snooker, and martial arts, as well as art and photography.
Mohamed Mesfer Mohamed Al Ayadi, a member Qatar Armed Forces, said: “This partnership represents an excellent opportunity to support the local community, whilst promoting healthy and active lifestyles to residents.”
The activities are taking place in venues throughout Aspire Dome, including the 5-a-side pitch, indoor track, swimming pool, gymnastics hall, and indoor pitch. The programme kicks off at 8am and finishes at 12pm each day, enabling children to remain active throughout the hot summer months while schools are closed. In addition, participants are provided with nutritious snacks to promote the benefits of a healthy diet.
AZF regularly organises and hosts activities to promote healthy and active lifestyles including the recently launched Walk More…Walk the Mall programme. Designed to encourage residents to stay active this summer by walking in the air-conditioned comfort of shopping centres, the initiative was launched in Villaggio, Landmark, Hyatt Plaza and Al Khor Mall.
