Colombo: Qatar's national snooker team ended its journey at the quarterfinal stage of the 2025 Asian Championships Team Snooker and 6-Red Snooker for Men, which took place in Sri Lanka and wrapped up on Saturday with India's victory.
Consisting of Ali Alobaidli, Muhanna Al Obaidly, and Bashar Hussein, the Qatar team exited the championships after a 0-3 loss to India, one of the strongest teams present there. The Indian team, made up of Brijesh Damani and Aditya Mehta went on to win the title by defeating Malaysia in the final with a score of 3-1.
Qatar delivered an average performance in the team competition, where they played three matches: winning their first match against Sri Lanka 3-1, but losing the next two: 1-3 to Pakistan and 2-3 to Cambodia. This placed them second in the group behind undefeated Pakistan.
In the individual competition, Ali Alobaidli won Qatar the bronze medal in the 6-red snooker singles event after reaching the semifinals, where he lost to India’s Paras Gupta with a score of 1-5.
