Doha: The Gate Mall reverberated with squeals of laughter as it welcomed scores of children to celebrate the traditional festival of Garangao last week. The Gate Mall and Salam Stores organised a range of fun-filled entertainment activities for kids of all ages.
Garangao is widely celebrated among children across the Gulf region, on the fourteenth day of Ramadan. As part of the night’s celebration, The Gate Mall and Salam Stores hosted a variety of activities.
During the event, the highly adored regional cartoon character—Um Khammas—and her friends surprised kids with a grand appearance at the venue.
Other exciting activities included interactive story telling sessions from Maktaba, a photography studio from Qatar Photography Club and Canon, face painting and balloon twisting from Cando,ahand crafted ceramic activity from Café Ceramique, and traditional henna art.
Keeping in line with festival’s custom, children came dressed in colourful traditional costumes, and were treated to special goody bags containing assorted confectionaries and gifts.
Speaking on the occasion, Ibrahim Bitar, Managing Director of Salam Bounian said, “Garangao is one of the most popular events during the month of Ramadan and has been celebrated for generations. The Gate Mall is extremely delighted to serve as a platform to continue the tradition with today’s children.

The action-packed Ramadanactivities were held at an exclusive set up within the Maysaloun hall, located on the first floor of The Gate Mall.
