Qatar Exchange’s market cap rises to QR512bn

DOHA: Qatar Exchange index gained 52.56 points or 0.57 percent last week to close at 9,298.75 points. Qatar National Bank (QNB), Islamic Holding and Nakilat were the top gainers of the week. The banking and financial services sector; transportation; and real estate indices rose as all other indices dropped. Trading value decreased by 29.22 percent last week to reach QR1.29bn compared to QR1.82bn in the previous week.

Trading volume decreased by 41.77 percent to reach over 28 million as against over 48 million the previous week, while the number of transactions fell by 30.63 percent last week, to reach 15,124 transactions as compared to 21,802 transactions.

Market capitalisation rose by 0.61 percent to reach QR512bn as compared to QR509bn at the end of the previous week.

The banking and financial services sector led trading value last week, accounting for 45.44 percent of the total, followed by the industrial sector, which accounted for 20.19 percent. The real estate sector ranked third, accounting for 13.33 percent. The transportation sector accounted for 7.52 percent of the total trading value.

The banking and financial services sector led the trading volume last week accounting for 37.76 percent of the total, followed by the real estate sector which accounted for 26 percent. The transportation sector accounted for 13.52 percent followed by the industrial sector. 

The trading number of transactions was also led by the banking and financial services sector accounting for 35.84 percent of the total, followed by the industrial sector, which accounted for 21.22 percent. The real estate sector ranked third accounting for 14.52 percent followed by the transportation sector with 11.49 percent.

Of the 42 companies listed, 21 ended higher last week while 19 fell and two remained unchanged. 

QNB led trading value last week accounting for 21.27 percent of the total followed by Industries Qatar which accounted for 13.47 percent. Masraf Al Rayan ranked third with 9.47 percent of the total trading value.

As for yesterday, the bourse added 34.20 points or 0.37 percent to advance to 9,298.75 points from 9,264.55 on Wednesday. The volume of the shares traded fell to over 5 million from 7 million. The value of shares increased to over QR334m from Wednesday’s QR312m.

The top gainers yesterday were QNB, Commercial Bank of Qatar and Ooredoo. QNB was up 1.92 percent to QR159. Commercial Bank of Qatar rose 0.72 percent to QR69.50 and Ooredoo gained 1.01 percent to QR120.50.

The banking and financial services sector index was up 0.85 points while consumer goods and services sector index dropped 0.19 points. The industrial sector fell 0.32 points while the insurance sector gained 0.09 points.
