SPE president visits Qatar

The Qatar section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) welcomed the SPE President Egbert Imomoh at their monthly meeting on May 22.  Imomoh made a presentation on the future global challenges facing the oil and gas industry, particularly that of future demand for talent.  

The presentation addressed how SPE is positioned to bridge the gap by broadening the use of its technological resources and promoting the industry within the education sector to attract student interest in pursuing careers in the industry.

The Qatar section of SPE, which is chaired by Sheikh Faisal bin Fahad Al Thani, deputy managing director of Maersk Oil Qatar, has over 600 members, including not only engineers but a also vast array of professionals in the energy sector. 

The organisation has an active presence in Qatar in the form of two student chapters and a young professionals group, and conducts monthly technical presentations. The Peninsula
