Doha, Qatar: Advisor to the Prime Minister and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari said that Doha would favour of a "comprehensive deal" to end the regional conflict.
Dr Al-Ansari was responding to a question about reports that Iran wants to decouple Hormuz talks from nuclear programme discussions during the weekly media briefings in Doha on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
Dr Al-Ansari said, "Yes, we want a comprehensive deal that would address the interests of all the people in the region, including the Iranians and our people, and the concerns of the international community regarding Iran. Now, that said, we also know that peace is important."
He went on to explain and confirm that Qatar is not against any deal that would maintain the ceasefire - which is a positive trajectory - but would also focus on the broader situation in the region.
Dr Al-Ansari further stressed that the country supports of the efforts of Pakistan over its mediation efforts to end the conflict.
On the issue of blocking navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson said that such actions cannot be justified, adding that the Strait of Hormuz should not be used as a pressure tool.
