Doha: Ooredoo will support the first online security forum for children, in partnership with Al Fursan Centre for Training and Consultations.
The conference will include a forum where children can express themselves and their opinions on Internet safety. It will also spread awareness through young leaders on electronic crimes.
The sponsorship was agreed at a recent ceremony attended by Fatima Sultan Al Kuwari, Director, Public Relations and Community, Ooredoo Qatar, Dr Haya Al Madhadi, Director of the centre, children and parents.
The ‘I am responsible’ event aims to empower young people aged 10-15 years to take the role of leaders for safety on the Internet in their schools and community and enable them to act as ambassadors for social networking.
The forum will train selected young people to teach educational Internet skills they have learnt at the event, giving them the opportunity to develop communication skills, leadership, creativity, innovation and a culture of social responsibility.
“We’re proud to sponsor the forum, as it will give kids a chance to express their fears and risks they face online every day.
“Our speakers will develop solutions to raise awareness among children and provide security and safety for other young people and society,” Al Kuwari said.
The forum will discuss cybercrime; dealing with social media; maintaining the privacy and protection of devices; Internet addiction; and electronic games. Speakers will consist of some 20 children who will provide educational tools, each according to the method they prefer.
The children will also invite parents, friends, schools, and fellow students to take part in the forum. The Peninsula
