Doha: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding with Qatar University (QU) on scholarship and training programmes for university students.
The MoU is within the framework of the ministry’s cooperation with QU as part of efforts to enable national cadres to contribute to national growth and development in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
The MoU aims to lay the ground for the development of successful action plans by investing in national cadres at QU through training programmes in the fields of management, accounting, finance, customer service, leadership, and legal expertise.
The programmes aim to prepare students for admission to job vacancies at the ministry, enrol a larger number of students with special needs in the academic welfare programme and provide various levels of training, including English language training, and professional technical certificates such as International Business Driving Licence (IBDL), International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), among others.
The ministry will provide universities with specialities based on job vacancies and offer QU students the opportunity to train in disciplines required at the ministry in addition to providing training workshops for them.
Earlier this year, the ministry signed an MoU with QU to exchange expertise and carry out research and studies in the business sector to achieve mutual objectives.
Last summer, and within the framework of cooperation with QU, the ministry launched a training programme for male and female students at the Faculty of Management and Economics.
The programme aims to equip students with skills and knowledge to join the jobs market following graduation.
Through its training programmes, the ministry seeks to provide a supportive environment for university students to enable the new generation of young Qataris to meet the requirements of specialised job functions at the ministry and equip them with practical and technical skills that enable them to perform their professional duties and responsibilities in line with their university fields. The Peninsula
