CONSTANTINE, Algeria: The Islamic State terrorist group has claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing in eastern Algeria.

Algerian authorities said two policemen were injured when a bomber detonated an explosives-laden bag at a police station in the city of Constantine on Sunday.

In a statement posted on the internet on Monday, IS said a group member had targeted a police station in central Constantine in a “martyrdom operation”.

In October, a policeman was shot dead by gunmen in a restaurant in northern Constantine.
