Doha: Al Faisal Without Borders Foundation “ALF” held the first meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Education Research Award for the academic year 2022-2023, which is organized by the Foundation for the seventh year in a row in cooperation with the College of Education at the University of Qatar, and chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Award and Founder and Chairman of the Board at Al Faisal Without Borders Foundation, and Her Excellency Sheikha Dr. Hessa bint Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani - Dean of the College of Education - Qatar University, and Dr. Salem bin Nasser Al-Nuaimi - President of Doha University of Science and Technology, Dr. / Khaled Al-Horr - President of the Community College, and Eng. / Abdullatif Al-Yafei - General Manager of Al Faisal Without Borders Foundation, Prof. Dr. / Ahmed Majriya - Assistant Dean for Research and Graduate Studies - College of Education, Qatar University, and Ms. Mona El Helbawi, General Manager of the Education, Culture and Sports Sector at Al Faisal Holding, ARIES Cluster.
At the opening of the meeting, His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani welcomed the attendees and affirmed his keenness to support and continuity the award and move it to be one of the most distinguished international educational awards that achieve educational and scientific benefit inside and outside the State of Qatar, which is in line with the vision of the Foundation and Qatar Vision 2030.
He also confirmed his happiness that the award covers all the Arab world, which allows many researchers and educators from all Arab countries to participate in it and enrich the educational library with good scientific research.
In the same context, Her Excellency Sheikha Dr. Hessa Bint Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Dean of the College of Education, praised the efforts made in the award over the past years. Her Excellency also stated her enthusiasm to make the award one of the most notable educational research awards on an internal and external scale.

It is worth mentioning that Dr. Salem bin Nasser Al-Nuaimi - President of Doha University of Science and Technology, and Dr. Khaled Al-Horr - President of the Community College, joined the Board of Trustees of the Award, where Dr. Salem Al-Nuaimi expressed his happiness to join the Board of Trustees of the award, which is one of the best awards that upkeep Educational research, which included a number of educational scientists who are interested in developing educational research by targeting a different category of academics, leaders, teachers and postgraduate students. The doctor stated that the research this year is distinguished and of high quality, which indicates the spread of the culture of educational research within the Arab world, and this is what the award seeks.
Also, Dr. Khaled Al-Horr, President of the Community College, confirmed his happiness to join the award’s board of trustees, and reported on the quality of the contributions received by the award this year, which are awarded annually to researchers from all over the Arab world. He also congratulated the winners of the award this year and wished better luck to all participants during the coming years.
Prof. Dr. Ahmed Majriya - Assistant Dean for Research and Graduate Studies - College of Education, Qatar University, also discussed the numbers of the award and the number of research papers that were sorted and arbitrated by the arbitration committee since the inception and launch of the award in 2016 until 2022.
It should be noted that the number of participants in the award in the past years has increased from 2016 to 2022, as the number of participants for the year 2022 reached 384 participants in all categories of the award.
Eng. Abdullatif Al-Yafei - General Manager of Al-Faisal Without Borders Foundation reviewed the agenda of the meeting, and talked about the origin and development of the award in previous years and the goals that the Foundation seeks through it, which are in line with the Foundation’s vision and the National Vision of the State of Qatar 2030.
At the end of the meeting, the Board of Trustees of the Award, in its first session for the current academic year, approved the results of the winners for the academic year 2021-2022, who numbered 10 winners, as in the category of leaders and teachers, the third-place winner came as a result of the strength and quality of research submitted by various Arab countries, who will be honored in a ceremony that will take place in the first week of March 2023.
The council also agreed to increase the rewards for the postgraduate students’ category and to return the undergraduate student’s category to be among the award categories in order to encourage university students to research in the educational field, which will benefit them scientifically and raise their efficiency.
The Council approved inviting the winners from outside the State of Qatar and a number of deans of faculties of education in the universities of the Arab world to attend the honoring ceremony.
Finally, the council agreed to include Ms. Mona El Helbawi and a member from Qatar Foundation to join Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Education Research Award Council.
