DOHA: The third edition of Katara Winter Festival concludes today at Katara Esplanade.
The five-day festivities have attracted a large number of visitors from different age groups, including children who like to fill their leisure time with useful activities during the school break.
This year the festival has drawn a significant participation of the private and government sectors in the state.
During festivities, the Childhood Cultural Centre organised several activities for children, including competitions and games, with gifts for winners.
Qatar Heritage and Identity Centre featured an informative theatrical show highlighting the winter season in addition to numerous entertaining activities for children and the general public to get them acquainted with Qatari cultural, national identity and natural environment.
To raise awareness about healthcare during the winter season, two health campaigns were launched at the festival.
Bin Muftah’s Medical Centre started a campaign to raise visitors’ awareness about common diseases during winter, foods to eat during the season, and healthy habits to follow.
A campaign conducted by Al Rabee Medical Centre aimed to raise awareness about skin care during the winter season.
Qatar Society of Al Gannas has organised information sessions for junior falcon hunters and sessions on falconry and hunting using dogs.
The festival also features events and activities, including exhibitions and workshops by “Al Galayel” championship, instructional sessions by Qatar’s motorcycling team “Al Adaam”, birds and animals exhibition by Kanari World pet store, performances by cultural bands, activities by the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning, games at the beach front organised by Katara, a photo exhibition, kids workshops, painting workshops for adults, a display of handicrafts by Qatar University’s alumni association, and an introductory expo by Qatar News Agency.
