​Tasweeq sells 45 million tonnes of petrochemical products in 2013

DOHA: Qatar International Petroleum Marketing Company Ltd (Tasweeq) sold a total of 45 million tonnes of petrochemical products during the year 2013. The company’s monthly shipment totaled 130 per month during the year.
Talking to reporters, Tasweeq CEO Saad Abdullah Al Kuwari said Asian markets are Tasweeq’s major destinations. Japan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, India and China have emerged as its top markets.  
Tasweeq is ready to support Qatar’s future plans for the expansion of petrochemical sector. “We are keen on supporting the expansion plans of Qafco and Ras Laffan Refinery.” On Tasweeq’s diversification of fund resources, Saad Abdullah said: “In terms of funding resources, we just go by the banks which are top rated by the ratings agencies.  It’s not true that we are depending on banks of any particular region or country… We are not involved in project financing.” He said currently 46 percent of Tasweeq staff are Qataris.
