DOHA: Qatar has banned the import and trade of construction steels below grade 500 to increase the quality of the building materials in the country.
The Laboratory and Standardisation Affairs Department at the Ministry of Environment, explained the quality of construction steels to meet the Qatari Building Code QCS2010.
The Ministry has made mandatory a laboratory test report to import the construction steels and announced to accept only those issued by the ISO 17025 certified laboratories with three month validity as well signature and seal of the laboratory.
Test report issued by the laboratory of the manufacturing company should be attested by the international accredited laboratory, said a release issued by the Ministry.
The importers are also required to sing a letter of undertaking to take the responsibly of the consignments of construction steels imported in the country.
