DOHA: Sidra Medical and Research Centre will host a delegation of more than 100 obstetricians and gynaecologists from Sudan as part of the joint Sidra Symposia Series-Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists ‘Hot Topics in Obstetrics and Gynaecology’ conference. It will take place  in Doha from  November 30 to December 2.
The aim of the event is to stimulate a discussion and dialogue between international experts about the future of obstetrics and gynaecology and the profession’s development in the Mena region.
The delegation comprises representatives from over 20 hospitals and healthcare institutions in Sudan, including Professor Abbo Hassan Abbo MD, FRCOG from the University of Khartoum, who is a leading expert on fistula treatment. Physicians will be offered a variety of training workshops such as simulation debriefing and early trimester ultrasanographic diagnosis. They will also take part in conversations on issues of significance in the region like cervical cancer prevention and the need to increase exclusive breast feeding rates.
“We are excited that our joint meeting with RCOG is just a few short days away and we are honored to host such a substantial delegation of colleagues from Sudan. One of Sidra’s key pillars is education, and making world-class training accessible to a broad pool of clinicians is something we strive for in every event we bring to Qatar,” said Sidra’s Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Joachim Dudenhausen.
The three-day programme will feature a series of special lectures, interactive panel discussions, hands-on workshops, interactive case studies and training courses. Over 30 international and regional experts will discuss topics ranging from patient safety to prevention of caesarean sections.
