India names Kumaran as next ambassador to Qatar

Doha: Indian government has announced the appointment of new ambassador to Qatar. P Kumaran will take over as the next Ambassador of India to the State of Qatar from Sanjiv Arora.
Kumaran is a 19992 batch Indian Foreign Service officer and currently serves as joint secretary in the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.
He is expected to take up his assignment shortly, a statement posted on the external affairs ministry website said.
An IIT Madras alumnus, he had served in various Indian missions abroad including Cairo.

Kumaran holds a B. Tech degree in Electronics and Communications from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai. Besides serving at the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, Kumaran has served as Deputy Chief of Mission, Colombo, and has also held diplomatic positions in Cairo, Tripoli, Brussels, Islamabad and Washington. Kumaran has also served as RPO Bangalore from 2005-2007.
Sanjiv Arora is the current Indian Ambassador in Qatar.
