Manila: Construction workers alerted police and airport authorities after uncovering several old, corroded bomb items during excavation at the Juliet Extension Taxiway within the Ninoy Aquino International Airport complex on Sunday, according to local media reports on Monday.

According to local media Philippine Star on Monday, explosive ordnance disposal experts from the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP) conducted a safety assessment, and successfully recovered 10 50-pound inert general-purpose bombs and 18 25-pound inert general-purpose bombs.

The recovered ordnance was transported to the AVSEGROUP headquarters for proper handling and safekeeping. A similar recovery operation took place on April 22, 2026, following the discovery of old military items during excavation in the same complex, according to the report.
