The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs is keen to support “productive” families through exhibitions and by providing a permanent market to showcase their products, Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs H E Dr Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi said yesterday.
The Ministry yesterday announced the winners for the 2017 incentive award for productive families and inaugurated Aswaq Qatar, an exhibition showcasing home-based products, which will run until April 30.
The awards ceremony, attended by senior government officials, was sponsored by the Sports and Social Activities Support Fund, Daam.
The award has three winners in two categories: Best productive family and best product.
Speaking on the sidelines, Al Nuaimi said that the Ministry is coordinating with its partners to empower productive families through providing a permanent market to exhibit their products.
In addition, the Ministry is supporting them by providing them with shops, organising exhibitions and activities to better their projects as well as training them to develop their skills and products.
The Minister said that the government is working on achieving the human and social development of the Qatari community in accordance with the directives of Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the strategic plan of the Ministry, and in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
The Ministry launched the incentive award for the best product and best productive family in the 4th edition of the exhibition to encourage home-based projects, said the Minister. The award also enables the families financially, helps them benefit from their own resources and turns them into productive entrepreneurs that efficiently contributes to the economic and social development of Qatar, he added.
Al Nuaimi praised the role of Daam in supporting the award and exhibition as well as the efforts made by all the organisers, hoping their success would contribute to accomplishing sustainable development in the country.
He praised the products made by the family, stating that they succeeded nationally and internationally due to their diversity and quality, pointing out that one of the families recently won a major award in Bahrain.
Najat Al Abdullah, Director of the Department of Family Affairs at the Ministry, said that 80 families are taking part in the exhibition.
She added the exhibition features workshops on cultural crafts and marketing skills, while giving the chance for the winners to showcase their products and marketing experiences. She praised the efforts of the department and the productive families who have developed their products making them a competitor in the Qatari market. The exhibition presents different varieties of products so that all vendors can benefit from one another and share their experiences, she added.
