Doha: Following the success of last year’s event, Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC) has announced that its second annual conference will take place at Qatar National Convention Centre from November 13 to 14.

Aiming to tackle some of the key environmental and social sustainability topics and challenges faced worldwide, the conference will focus on three overarching themes: ‘Future Sustainable Cities’; ‘Green Business is Good Business’; and ‘Sustainability as a Lifestyle’.
Industry practitioners, sustainability experts and academic researchers are encouraged to submit papers, presentations and posters by May 12 through QGBC website (http://www.qatargbc.org/conference/abstracts). Successful entries will receive notifications in the lead-up to the conference following a peer-review process.
Engineer Meshal Al Shamari, Director, QGBC, said: “Our inaugural conference was a success, it saw over 500 experts discuss Qatar’s vision behind sustainability and green building. The 2016 edition will highlight and explore feasible ways to translate Qatar’s sustainability vision into action. This year’s programme also offers an opportunity to delegates to study and debate the impact of sustainability in people’s daily lives under the theme ‘Sustainability as a Lifestyle’.
“Since its establishment, QGBC has been at the forefront of Qatar’s sustainability movement and has contributed to the delivery of Qatar National Vision 2030.
“Our team along with our esteemed members and volunteers have been working on an array of research, education and awareness projects throughout the years, which have had a tangible impact on the community,” he added.
Through QGBC, Qatar has joined a network of 80 countries that run active national green building councils under the umbrella of the World Green Building Council.
QGBC is a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), and, through the conference, is supporting QF’s mission to foster a progressive society and promote sustainable development.
