Doha: Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs H E Dr Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi met a Thai delegation, led  by the director-general of the Department of Employment, after it visited the Labour City.

The Minister said Qatar is proud of the contributions of the Thai workers to the development and growth of the state. “Within the framework of our quest towards achieving Qatar National Vision 2030, we look forward to welcoming more highly skilled Thai labour in the coming years,” he added.
The ministry will cooperate with Thai officials to agree on strict hiring of skilled Thai workers by approving recruitment offices in Thailand. The offices will be approved under the supervision of the Thai Ministry of Labour.
The Thai director-general said his country appreciates the opportunity offered by Qatar for high-skilled expatriate workers, and hailed the steps taken by Qatar to ensure the health, safety and welfare of expatriate workers.
He said Thai officials are working with their Qatari counterparts to ensure the employment of Thai workers in Qatar is a fully legitimate process. Thai officials have visited Qatar following the visit of Thai Minister of Labour Sirichai Distakul to Doha last March for meetings with the Qatari government, employers and the private sector.  The delegation hoped to increase the number of Thai workers in Qatar who do not currently exceed 5,000.
