To raise awareness and money for Syrian refugees, Pre-kindergarten (ages four and five) students at the American School of Doha (ASD) created, packaged and sold playdough to donate funds to Qatar Red Crescent.
The money raised through the project was donated to Qatar Red Crescent in an assembly held on the ASD premises represented by ASD Pre-K students and teachers and Hamid Moharar, Head of the Corporate Resource Mobilisation - Resource Mobilization Department.
The event was also attended by students, faculty, staff and employees from both organisations.
The Pre-K team from ASD commented: “Even at the ages of four and five, students at the American School of Doha are learning beyond the walls of the classroom and are demonstrating that they are positive, active global citizens. We are glad that we are collaborating with Qatar Red Crescent to support our endeavours due to their extensive knowledge and expertise in assisting vulnerable communities.”
Saad bin Shaheen Al Kaabi, QRC’s Director of Resources Mobilisation and Investment, expressed the society’s deep sense of gratitude to ASD’s initiative.
“Since the outbreak of the conflict, we have been supporting the Syrian people with medical services and relief items. QRC has a mechanism of delivering such services. The money raised will be used to provide the displaced Syrian people inside Syria or on the borders, with some basic needs, such as bed sheets, mattresses, pillows, heaters and winter clothing for children,” Al Kaabi said. The Peninsula
