The programme aims to invest students’ free time in constructive ways.
Doha, Qatar: The Student Activities – Spring 2025 programme, is an initiative designed to channel students’ time into purposeful learning experiences.
The programme focuses on developing life skills, strengthening values, and discovering students’ talents through a diverse set of educational, sports, and practical activities delivered in collaboration with key national institutions.
It aims to invest students’ free time in meaningful and constructive ways, enhance their personal and social skills, and discover and nurture young talents.
Mohammed Al-Qadi, Programs and Activities Specialist at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE), explained that the Spring Activities initiative has been organized for the third consecutive year, demonstrating its success and positive impact on students.
Speaking to Al Ryayn TV recently, he said this year’s programme is being implemented across six dedicated student centers, three for boys and three for girls, strategically distributed across different geographical areas of the country. This approach ensures accessibility and provides equal opportunities for students from various regions to participate.
Al-Qadi noted that the program aims to make productive use of students’ time during the spring period through a diverse range of activities delivered in collaboration with several national entities. “These activities are designed to benefit students both educationally and practically, while keeping them engaged in an enjoyable, interactive environment,” he said.
A number of government entities are participating in the programme, contributing their expertise to enrich the students’ experience. Among them is the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Civil Defense Department and the Facilities Security Department, which leads activities focused on safety, security, and emergency preparedness.
The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, through the Department of Da‘wah and Guidance, contributes educational and value-based activities that promote positive ethics and responsible behaviour. In addition, the Ministry of Sports and Youth plays a key role through the “Sport for All” initiative, which oversees daily physical and sports activities.
Describing a typical day, Al-Qadi explained that activities run from 9am to 1pm. Students begin their day with a warm-up session and sports activities led by the “Sport for All” team, which lasts for about an hour. Each day features a different set of sports to maintain variety and prevent boredom, ensuring high levels of enthusiasm and participation. The main segment of the day is then led by one of the participating government entities. For example, the Civil Defense Department conducts hands-on activities that teach students how to evacuate safely, use fire extinguishers, and respond correctly during emergencies.
These sessions are practical rather than lecture-based, allowing students to actively use equipment and participate in real-life simulations.
Al-Qadi emphasised that the Ministry intentionally avoided traditional lecture formats to keep students engaged and motivated during their break.
He added that such practical experiences help students internalise safety concepts, which they can later share with their families and peers, creating a wider community impact. The Spring 2025 Student Activities programme stands out as a dynamic, collaborative initiative that combines education, values, sports, and safety, empowering students with skills that will grow with them into the future.
