Ooredoo’s Online Safety Campaign ends with success

Ooredoo’s popular Online Safety Campaign has ended, with the last post on the topic ‘Child Online Access’ going live on November 9.
The overall campaign received tremendous success, with over 23,000 views via the Ooredoo Community (http://community.ooredoo.qa).
The Campaign, which was created after a number of complaints from Qatar residents on social media about the amount of explicit content available online, aimed to show parents and children on how to block unsuitable content, as well as highlight the importance of online education.
The posts covered platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat, and helped raise awareness on important issues including online fraud scams and child online access.
Fatima Sultan Al Kuwari, Director, Community and Public relations, Ooredoo said: “Ooredoo invest heavily in making sure that the Internet is safeguarded in lines with the laws and traditions of Qatar, however when it comes to social media, it is up to all of us to be responsible digital citizens.”
To help parents with this, each Ooredoo Online Safety Campaign post began with a set of suggested ‘rules’ to help set clear instructions on what to do if anyone comes across inappropriate content online. The final post, which focused solely on ‘Child Online Access’ also included several links to help parents change their child’s online privacy settings on platforms such as Xbox, home desktop computers and devices, and urged parents to update their YouTube App and computer version to ‘safety mode’.
The full seven posts are available to view now in both English and Arabic via the Ooredoo Community and will act as a point of reference for all explicit content complaints in the future.
