DOHA: Georgetown’s Women’s Society and Development Club (WSDC) recently raised
QR110,000 at their Fifth Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Event. All proceeds will benefit Qatar Cancer Society and be used for treatment and funding of education on breast cancer.
“Recent studies show that only 7 percent of Qataris are familiar with breast cancer symptoms and treatment, so while our auction is a fun event with a lot of wonderful gifts for auction or raffle, the most important outcome is to get people to talk about breast cancer,” said Noor Al Thani, who along with Fatima Al Thani, serves as co-president of the student group WSDC which organised the blockbuster event.
